Welcome to Lost Letters

hail and well met,

I intended for this site to be like a stack of letters, discovered in a lunchbox that washed up on a distant coast like in A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki. The style and organization of this site hopefully conveys a sense of thought and effort akin to selecting a pretty letter set and fountain pen ink. Even though there is no way of knowing what you’ll get out of reading these letters, I hope you take a look around and enjoy it.

As for me, I started learning to code thanks to Neopets in ~2003, and I began to pour my heart into mediocre pixel art and website layouts drawn in MS Paint and Photoshop. I’m so glad I never let my dislike of my art stop me from participating in the pixel communities of that time, because I made so many good memories and learned a lot.

likes: TTRPGs (mostly D&D), lgbtqia+ rights, intersectional feminism, lively cities, onsen 温泉, writing and receiving happy mail from pen pals, words of affirmation, knitting, yakiimo 焼き芋, epic fantasy, therapy
dislikes: silence, alone time, being late/running for trains, never remembering names or lyrics, feeling illiterate in Japan, trauma dumping, non-inclusive clothing sizes, not crediting artists
practicing: buddhism / meditation, web development, 日本語, pixel art, emotional regulation techniques, proper weight lifting form, roller skating, imitating musical instruments with my voice
enemies of my wallet: limited edition uni-ball one gel pens (0.38mm), washi tape, voluspa candles, ニュアンスネイル, LUSH bathbombs, pretty math rocks, overpriced vegan/foreigner food in Japan, seasonal Japanese postcards
media: moomin (tv show), NAADPod (D&D podcast), Critical Role (D&D show), Dimension 20 (TTRPG show), vlogs (Michelle Choi, Namiのくらし, CozyDay, em iffy, deemd), audiobooks (currently: Lightbringer Series by Brent Weeks)
foods I need to veganize: su böreği, spanakopita, gözleme, kugel, braciola, mac n’ cheese, calamari, Cuban picadillo

Your dominant hues are blue and magenta. You're the one who goes to all the parties but doesn't quite fit in at every one... you know what you want, but are afraid of what the world might think of it. You're a little different and that's okay with them, and if you're smart it's okay with you too.

Your saturation level is higher than average - You know what you want, but sometimes know not to tell everyone. You value accomplishments and know you can get the job done, so don't be afraid to run out and make things happen.

Your outlook on life is bright. You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.
